Worship Ministries "I was glad when said unto me, we will go into the house of the Lord" The worship of Almighty God is the first and most important activity of Epiphany Lutheran Church. While presided over by the clergy, there are ample opportunities for lay members to participate in the leadership of the services. Many find this a way to learn the beautiful liturgy of the church and to grow spiritually. The Pastor would be glad to guide you to an appropriate place in the publics worship life of this congregation. Acolytes: A program open to young people beginning in the fifth grade. Each acolyte participates on an average of one Sunday morning service each month. Acolytes serve at the altar, carry the cross in processions, carry torches, the lectionary book and assist the clergy in the administration of the sacraments. Altar Committee: Women and men who have the unique responsibility of preparing the sanctuary, chancel and chapel for worship. They prepare the altar for the services of Holy Communion. They also care for and maintain the altar linens, silver and paraments. Lay Readers: Women, men and youth who serve by proclaiming the Word of God, reading the lessons appointed for the worship services before the congregation. Ushers help to seat people, pass out bulletins and visitor packages, receive the offering, direct people to the altar for Holy Communion and assist with any emergencies that may arise.
